Delhi Police bust fake PMO website, arrest its mastermind

Delhi Police have confirmed busting a fake Prime Minister's Office (PMO) website and the arrest of its mastermind Sudipta Chatterjee.

Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police (Crime), Ravindra Yadav, said the website pretended to offer loans to young entrepreneurs after initial deposit of some amount and was based in eastern city of Howrah.

Yadav added the suspect had fake government rubber stamps and project reports and duped over 200 people.

"The crime branch busted a racket which used to create fake government websites and one of them was named Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Yojna (Prime Minister Model Programme). They have cheated a lot of people and their base was in Howrah," said Yadav.

Chatterjee has been brought to Delhi for further interrogation.

"We were able to identify the suspects after a lot of hard work. Our team arrested the mastermind yesterday (January 17) and produced him in a court. They brought him here today after getting the transit remand," added Yadav.
