Construction, high performance materials and glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain has launched its seventh cross-functional R&D centre in IIT Madras Research Park, here. The Saint Gobain Research India would be the anchor client for the second phase of the research park, which is expected to set up its second tower by 2015. Saint-Gobain and IIT Madras signed an MoU on Friday.
“We are starting the operations of the R&D centre now itself, in a temporary premises on the outskirts of Chennai and will move into the park once the works are completed,” said Anand Mahajan, general delegate, General Delegation India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, with Saint Gobain. The company would offer abrasives, ceramics, plastics, reinforcements and applications technology along with research for habitat solutions for warm or hot climates.
