Sify Technologies today launched a state-of-the-art data centre at Airoli to cater to the growing demand in the country's commercial capital.

The Airoli centre, the company's fourth data centre, at an investment of Rs 150-crore and spread across 1,00,000 sq ft is well-equipped with Tier III compliant cooling and power systems and advanced building management systems.

"The Airoli data centre is a key facet of our strategy to develop the most sophisticated network and data centre infrastructure to facilitate the evolution and demand for services such as commerce, online banking and corporate ERP, etc," Sify Enterprise Services Executive President A J Nath said.

Sify will invest about Rs 400-crore in the next two years to meet the growing demand from both the domestic and overseas markets.

The company also said that it would set up two world class data centres in Noida and Bangalore by 2009.

"We have been investing for growth in the capacity of our backbone infrastructure, expansion of the network to over 500 points of presence and the adoption of new technologies and standards to move forward," Sify Technologies Chief Financial Officer M P Vijay Kumar said.

The Airoli centre is housed in a newly constructed structure spread across multiple floors built as per the latest industry norms and it adheres to the IS 1893:1984 standard for earthquake resistant structural design.
