Tata Engineering and Locomotive Co sold 17,608 vehicles in the domestic market in July, 2002, recording a 50 per cent growth in sales, as against the same period last year.
Compared with June 2002, sales in July increased 4.5 per cent, Tata Engineering said in a press release issued here on Sunday.
Commercial vehicle sales grew 26.6 per cent in July to 7,338 units. The company sold 4,755 medium and heavy commercial vehicles and 2,583 light commercial vehicles, registering a growth of 16.5 per cent and 50 per cent, respectively.

During April-July 2002, Tata Engineering sold 28,707 vehicles, recording a growth of 40.2 per cent, as against 20,482 vehicles in the same period last year.
Passenger vehicle sales in July grew 73 per cent to touch 10,270 units, raking an 18 per cent market share for the company.
Cumulative sales for April-July 2002 grew 13.7 per cent to 27,861 units, entailing a market share of 13 per cent, the company said.
Indica sales shot up by 103 per cent to 8,528 units, although production was affected in the last two days of the month due to the failure of the western power grid.
