Steel maker Tata Steel is exploring possibilities for supplying skin panels to the world’s largest car maker Toyota’s upcoming ‘strategic’ small car in India, to be launched by 2011.
Besides, the Tata group firm would also start supplying skin panels to another Japanese car giant Nissan.
According to a senior Tata Steel official, the company is in discussion with Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian joint venture of the Japanese car giant with the Kirloskar Group, for supplying skin panels.
TKM is investing Rs 3,200 crore in setting up its second manufacturing facility in Bangalore for rolling out a ‘strategic’ small car in the country by early 2011.
