Telecom service provider Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) today launched its Ethernet-based leased line services in eight Indian cities.

Ethernet leased line services comprises a range of services to meet the growing demand from the business customer segment.

Originally Ethernet was designed for local area networks, that is a computer network covering a small physical area, like a home, office, or small group of buildings, such as a school, or an airport.

This technology is now increasingly being used in companies with wide area networks.

In the first phase, TTSL launched the services in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

TTSL would provide customers with all the necessary hardware and access facilities for the new service, it said in a statement.

Ethernet is an ideal choice for enterprises with growing bandwidth and technology requirements, as it is cost effective, scalable and extremly flexible solution for enterprises of all sizes, TTSL Senior Vice-president Pradeep Dwivedi said.

"There is rapid growth in demand for ethernet services all over the world because they solve the problems of increasing bandwidth requirements and necessity to reduce costs," he added.
