TVS Motor company expects the motor cycle sales to end flattish this year after gaining some of the lost ground in the remaining months on the back of new launches like Phoenix 125 cc model.
So far the company has been facing a decline of 6% in motor cycle sales compared to last year but overall it would touch the industry average which is going to be flattish, said J Srinivasan, vice president of the company said here today. The company is selling about 1.6 lakh two wheelers a month, according to him.
Speaking a the launch of of Phoneix in AP market, he said the new model that comes with premium features would fill the product gap which the company had in between the economy and the premium segments. This executive segment grew 28% as compared to 14% growth in motor cycles sales last year and therefore the new model would significantly add to the overall sales in the coming months, according to him.
The company expects to sell 20,000 Phoenix bikes in the next 3-5 months.
According to Angel Broking's auto sector report, during the April-November period TVS Motors posted a decline of 8.9% in overall numbers(including three wheeler sales), at 1,37 million units compared to 1.5 million units in the same period last year.
