Auto maker VE Commercial Vehicles today reported nearly three-fold growth in sales of Eicher trucks and buses in January at 2,742 units.
The joint venture between the Volvo Group and the Eicher Group had sold 940 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales increased to 2,556 units from 819 units in the same period a year ago, the company said in a statement.
Exports for the month grew 53.72 per cent to 186 units compared to 121 units last year.
Sales of light commercial vehicles in the Indian market during the month also went up over three-fold to 2,068 units against 683 units in January 2009.
Heavy commercial vehicle sales recorded a sharp jump of nearly eight-fold at 224 units against 29 units in January last year, it added.
