BJP refers to settlers as foreigners, not Muslims

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday referred to settlers in Assam as foreigners and not as Muslims. Till recently the BJP had been describing the clashes in Assam as communal Hindu- Muslim clashes. The shift would appear to be a conscious attempt by the party to adopt a more inclusive stance in the run up to 2014.
