With the Parliament impasse slipping into its second week, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Left parties on Thursday came together publicly to demand a judicial inquiry into the coal block allocations. While the BJP has been isolated in its stand of not allowing the Parliament to function and disrupting the House, the SP and the Left have all through been demanding a debate and discussion on the issue. Speaking to reporters SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said the SP, Left and TDP will be holding a dharna on Friday to demand a debate on the issue and restoration of normalcy in the Parliament. CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta speaking to Business Standard said, “We have joined hands with Mulayam Singh Yadav on the issue of fighting corruption and asking for a judicial inquiry.”

Meanwhile Congress President Sonia Gandhi continued her attack on the Oppsoition BJP even raking the issue in her address in Barmer , Rajasthan while inaugurating a water project she said, “Sadly, some people by politicising every issue are busy in stalling the proceedings of Parliament.” She added, “Do we want to destroy this democratic system, which our ancestors, our freedom fighters after sacrificing their lives have gifted to us? Will this help the country? The solutions to the problems and the issues that are facing us today can only be found through discussion in Parliament," Gandhi said.
