Comptroller and Auditor General of India Shashi Kant Sharma said today that the audit body is working on a telecom sector audit and will be ready with its report by the end of the year. CAG is also going to present its report on oil and gas exploration in the parliament soon.
The auditor is also planning to take up performance audit of some ongoing public private partnership projects shortly. "None of this is aimed to harass the private firms but to uphold the constitutional scheme of accountability," Sharma said. He also said that the companies should have no fear of such audit if they don't have anything to hide.
CAG is likely to audit PPP projects in across sectors where there is use of natural resources and revenue sharing with the government including infrastructure, mines, utilities, oil and gas.
Sharma was addressing ASSOCHAM's annual summit on Corporate Frauds.
