Himachal Pradesh recorded 209 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, raising the infection tally to 2,18,523, a health official said.
No coronavirus-related death was reported on Monday and the death toll from the pandemic stands at 3,653 people in the state.

Telangana on Monday logged 216 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 6,65,284, while the death toll rose to 3,914 with two more fatalities.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 61, followed by Karimnagar (20) and Peddapalli (12) districts, a state government bulletin said, providing details as of 5.30 PM today.

The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh rose to 7,92,504 on Monday with the addition of eight new cases, while no fresh death due to the infection was reported in the state, a health department official said.
The death toll remained unchanged at 10,518, he added.

Covid recoveries and new cases almost matched each other in J&K on Monday with 118 recoveries and 117 new cases reported during the last 24 hours.
Officials said that 14 recoveries and 55 cases were reported from the Jammu division and 104 recoveries and 62 cases from the Kashmir division.
As many as 32 students studying in private educational institutions in Rajouri district of Jammu division were among new Covid cases reported on Monday.

Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday said his ministry is in talks with various stakeholders for the recovery of the tourism sector that has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and stressed that vaccination is key for its revival.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the tourism ministry organised a conference on "Tourism for Inclusive Growth" here. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was the chief guest at the event.
Noting that the tourism sector was the worst-hit by the pandemic, Reddy said, "The government has taken various measures for its revival and recovery, including five lakh free VISAs for foreign tourists."

Goa's coronavirus caseload went up by 50 and reached 1,76,145 on Monday, while no fresh death due to the infection was reported in the state, a health department official said.
The death toll remained unchanged at 3,303, he said.
The number of recovered cases in the state rose to 1,71,980 after 106 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the official said. Goa now has 862 active cases.

The count of COVID-19 cases in Nashik district of Maharashtra rose to 4,08,154 with the addition of 76 new patients on Monday, officials said.
The coronavirus infection claimed two more lives which took the death toll in the district to 8,626, they said.

The Union Territory of Puducherry witnessed a steep fall in the number of new cases of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM on Monday, taking the overall tally to 1,26,127, according to the Department of Health.
Director of the department G. Sriramulu said the number of new cases reported on Sunday was 78 and it fell to 37 today. The cases were identified at the end of examination of 3,619 samples and were spread over Puducherry (28), Karaikal (7), and Mahe (2). Yanam, an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh, did not report any new case today.
The Director said the active cases were 866 of which 124 were in hospitals and 742 in home isolation.

Pfizer is soon expected to submit data to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding safety of its mRNA Covid vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, media reports said.
"It's a question of days, not weeks," Pfizer chief executive Albert Bourla said on ABC's "This Week."
While the FDA has the authority to approve the vaccines for children, Bourla said Pfizer will be ready to manufacture a vaccine specifically for children.

Kerala on Monday recorded 11,699 fresh COVID-19 cases and 58 deaths, which took the caseload to 46,41,614 and death toll to 24,661.
The number of people who recovered from the infection since Sunday was 17,763 which brought the total recoveries to 44,59,193 and the number of active cases to 1,57,158, an official press release said.
As many as 80,372 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, the release said.

The world will return to normal life as Covid-19 will end in a year, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla has said, while stressing the need for annual Covid jabs.
"Within a year I think we will be able to come back to normal life," Bourla was quoted as saying in an interview on ABC's "This Week."
However,"I don't think that this means that the variants will not continue coming, and I don't think that this means that we should be able to live our lives without having vaccinations," Bourla said. "But that, again, remains to be seen."

The national capital recorded 32 COVID-19 cases and zero daily deaths due to the disease on Monday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.06 per cent, data shared by the health department showed.
Delhi has recorded only three fatalities due to the infection in September so far.
With the new cases, the overall infection tally in the city climbs to 14,38,746. Over 14.13 lakh patients have recovered from the disease, and the death toll stands at 25,085.

The Delhi High Court Monday stayed an order directing the AAP government to decide and formulate a policy on the implementation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's announcement that if a poor tenant was unable to pay rent during the COVID-19 pandemic, the state would pay it.
A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice on the Delhi government's appeal against the order passed by a single judge, who also held that a Chief Minister's promise to citizens is enforceable in nature.
The bench said that irreparable loss would be caused to the appellant if an order of stay is not passed.

China on Monday defended its visa curbs which have prevented thousands of stranded Indians from returning to Beijing, saying they are "appropriate" to control the spread of COVID-19 and do not target India alone, but are applied to even Chinese citizens coming back from overseas.
Responding to questions on Indian ambassador to Beijing Vikram Misri's criticism of China's prolonged stringent travel restrictions, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying also ruled out the easing of the curbs in the near future.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga's elder sister Lalvuani died of COVID-19 at a hospital on Monday.
Lalvuani, 88, died while undergoing treatment at the Zoram Medical College (ZMC) near Aizawl.
"It is with deep sorrow that I announce the demise of my beloved elder sister Lalvuani (88-years) this morning at 11:30 am," the chief minister tweeted.

In 24 hours ending 9 am on Monday, 1,178 infected people recovered, a health department bulletin said.
The total COVID-19 positives touched 20,47,459, recoveries 20,20,835 and deaths 14,142, it said.

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the Centre's stand on a petition filed by a cancer patient seeking direction to authorities concerned to allow him to take COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin as the second dose instead of Covishield, which was administered to the petitioner as the first dose.
Justice Rekha Palli issued notice to the Centre asking it to file a reply and listed the matter for October 28.
