Chennai-based hotelier Vikram Aggarwal, who was asked to surrender before the Tamil Nadu police today, in connection with IPL spot-fixing scandal, missed the deadline.

The police said it will take all the possible legal actions, including possible arrest. It may be noted, Aggarwal alias Victor was also summoned by the Mumbai police. Aggarwal owns a franchise of Hotel Radisson Blu and other properties in Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu police CBCID wing today said that Aggarwal has been active in betting circles and was the person who introduced actor Vindoo Dara Singh to Gurunath Meiyappan. It may be noted, both of them are in police custody and are being interrogated over their role in betting during IPL matches.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court today dismissed Aggarwal's anticipatory bail plea. The bail plea was rejected by Vacation judge C T Selvam, after the Advocate General of Tamil Nadu A L Somayaji stated that betting had emerged as an issue of national importance and it was not advisable to grant him the advance relief at this stage. Being a wealthy person capable of influencing the ongoing influence.

AR L Sundaresan, senior counsel who was representing for Agrawal, told the court that he had been issued a summons on May 23 directing him to appear before the CBCID personnel on May 30. One week time granted to him would show that the police did not have any material against him”.

Earlier the police said that during the investigations it was found Aggarwal's wife telephoned a cricket bookie, (who is now under arrest) over a 100 times. The police said that the hotelier used the phone connection in his wife's name to get in touch with the bookies.

In a statement today, the Tamil Nadu police said they will take all legal steps to make him appear before them for enquiry. He did not appear today and his bail has been reject, said in the statement.
