Heavy security was deployed and prohibitory orders remained in force at the disputed area along the Assam-Meghalaya border, where six people were killed following violent clashes, officials said.
Some travel restrictions between the two states have continued for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday. Assam Police have asked people to avoid travelling to the neighbouring state. A police officer said the situation is still not completely peaceful in Meghalaya and there could be attacks on people or vehicles from Assam.
No restrictions, however, have been imposed on commercial vehicles, such as trucks carrying essential goods and other items, the officer said.
