Maha sees 64 Covid-19 cases, 117 recoveries; active tally now 451

Maharashtra on Sunday reported 64 Covid-19 cases, which took the state's tally to 81,35,684, while the death toll remained unchanged at 148,406, a health official said. The recovery count increased by 117 to touch 7,986,827, leaving the state with an active caseload of 451, he said.

Not upset or angry with anyone in party: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Sunday said he is not upset or angry with anyone in the Kerala unit of the party and has no reservations in speaking to anyone as "we are not in kindergarten to refrain from talking to each other".
 
"I am not upset or angry with anyone. I have not blamed or accused anyone. There are no complaints or issues from my end. I have no problem seeing everyone as one and neither do I have any reservations about speaking to anyone," he told reporters in Kochi.
 
Without naming Tharoor, leader of opposition in Kerala assembly V D Satheesan Satheesan recently said that any kind of sectarianism or parallel activities would not be allowed in the party and warned that such moves would be dealt with "seriously".

EAM Jaishankar visits the all-woman Ima Keithal market in Manipur

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the all-women Ima Keithal market in Manipur's capital Imphal on Sunday and interacted with the people there.
 
Jaishankar said he was "pleased" to see a great example of women empowerment at the market. He also said the he felt "great" about the energy and the entrepreneurship of women there. He said he had heard a lot about the market and was eager to visit the place. 
 
"It's actually something you have to come and see. I have obviously heard about it which is why I am here," Jaishankar said.'

The external affairs minister is on a visit to Manipur from November 26-28.

Rain plays spoilsport, 2nd ODI between India, NZ abandoned after two interruptions

The second ODI between India and New Zealand has been abandoned due to persistent rain. Only 12.5 overs could be bowled as the rain stopped the game twice. 
 
Rain first stopped play when India were 22 for no loss. The game could not resume after the second rain-forced break when India were 89 for one in 12.5 overs. India lost Shikhar Dhawan (3), but Shubman Gill (45) and Suryakumar Yadav (34) added 66 runs for the second wicket. New Zealand are leading the series 1-0, having won the Auckland ODI by seven wickets.
 
The final match of the series will be played on Wednesday in Christchurch.

Egypt president will be chief guest at Republic Day event, confirms MEA

Egypt's president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will be the chief guest at the main Republic Day event in Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday. 
 
"This is the first time that the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt will be the chief guest at our Republic Day," the MEA said in a statement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a formal invitation to al-Sisi which was handed over to the Egyptian president by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on October 16.
 
Both countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

Counter-terrorism, multilateralism India's key priorities during UNSC presidency

India will focus on countering terrorism and reformed multilateralism during its presidency of the UN Security Council on December 1.

"In the December presidency, our priorities will be countering terrorism, for which we have very successfully built a good narrative in these past few months, as well as on reformed multilateralism," India's Permanent Representative to the UN ambassador Ruchira Kamboj told PTI in an exclusive interview.

India will assume the monthly rotating presidency of the security council for the second time after August 2021during its two-year tenure as an elected UNSC member. According to UNSC rules, the council presidency rotates between each of the 15 members of the UNSC in alphabetical order.

India vs New Zealand: Rain again stops play; India 89 for 1 after 12.5 overs

Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav entertained the crowd with glorious strokes before rain halted play between India and New Zealand for the second time on Sunday. 
 
The second ODI had been already reduced to 29 overs a side after the first spell of rainfall had stopped the game for four hours. At that time, India were 22 for no loss in the fifth over. 
 
When the game resumed, the visitors lost their skipper Shikhar Dhawan (3 off 10 balls). India are 89 for 1 in 12.5 overs. Gill is batting at 45 and Surya at 34.

Road transport and highways sector has maximum number of delayed projects: Govt report

The road transport and highways sector has the maximum number of delayed projects at 243, followed by railways at 114 and the petroleum sector at 89, according to a report by the Infrastructure and Project Monitoring Division (IPMD).
 
In the road transport and highways sector, 243 out of 826 projects are delayed. In railways, out of 173 projects, 114 are delayed, while in petroleum sector, 89 out of 142 projects are delayed, says the report. The IPMD is mandated to monitor central sector infrastructure projects costing Rs 150 crore and above based on the information provided on the Online Computerised Monitoring System (OCMS) by the project implementing agencies.
