Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Monday said it will set up advanced manufacturing labs at five Industrial Training Institutes in Gujarat. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Employment and Training (DET), Government of Gujarat, for the purpose, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in a statement. The Advanced Manufacturing Labs (AMLs) will be sent up at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Palanpur, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Godhra, and Dahod, it added. Nayara Energy has completed its scheduled 2026 turnaround at its Vadinar refinery, India's second-largest single-site refinery, carrying out critical maintenance, inspections and operational upgrades while maintaining uninterrupted fuel supplies across its network. Gujarat has initiated battery storage systems at five locations in the state, with a total capacity of 870 MW, to maintain the stability of the renewable power grid, officials said on Saturday. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are essential for storing electricity generated from solar and other renewable sources. They help manage additional load and maintain grid stability. "Gujarat has initiated battery storage systems at five locations with a total capacity of 870 MW," an official release stated. The state has also registered 13 projects across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Patan and Kutch districts to set up additional battery storage systems, it said. Three officials of leading private banks were arrested for their alleged involvement in a Rs 2,500-crore cyber fraud racket in Gujarat's Rajkot district, bringing the number of those held so far in the case to 20, police said on Monday. Those arrested were identified as Maulik Kamani, a personal manager at Yes Bank in Padadhari; Kalpesh Dangariya, a manager at Axis Bank in Jamnagar; and Anurag Baldha, a personal banker with HDFC Bank, Rajkot (Rural) Superintendent of Police Vijay Gurjar said. Dangariya and Baldha were previously employed with Yes Bank, he added. Kamani allegedly assisted the earlier arrested accused in opening and managing suspicious accounts. He also helped bypass banking alerts triggered by high-value transactions by submitting additional documentation to keep accounts active, the SP said. India's first Iranian crude oil cargo since 2019 may be headed towards a port in Gujarat, according to ship tracking data. Indian refiners have been looking to purchase a few cargoes of Iranian oil on water following the recent sanctions waiver by Washington. "The Indo-Iranian oil trade has flickered back to life. Following the US administration's decision to grant a 30-day window for Iranian oil "on the water" due to regional conflict, the vessel Ping Shun is now en route to Vadinar (in Gujarat) with 600,000 barrels of crude.
