A terrorist identified as the killer of newly recruited sub-inspector Arshid Ahmad Mir, who lost his life in the terror attack in Srinagar on Sunday, was killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Bemina area of Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on Friday.
"#Killer of martyr PSI Arshid killed in #Bemina #encounter: IGP Kashmir @JmuKmrPolice," said a tweet from Kashmir Zone Police.
On Sunday afternoon, terrorists attacked a police party at Khanyar in Old Srinagar City, where Mir was shot by terrorists in Khanyar and later he succumbed to his injuries.

Over 51,000 students have secured admission to Delhi University's undergraduate courses, filling up a little over 74 per cent of the 70,000 seats available, according to official data. The third cut-off list will be released on Sunday.
The university has received a total of 1,18,878 applications under the first two cut-off lists. A total of 51,974 students had paid the fees till 5 pm on Friday, after which the payment gateway was closed, university officials said.

A trial court has ordered to frame charges against nine accused in a case where a mob allegedly resorted to rioting, violence, and vandalism in North East Delhi in February 2020.
Additional Sessions Judge Virendra Bhat in an order passed on October 11 said, "Considering the entire material on record, it is prima facie evident that the charges u/s 147/148/149/380/427/436/452 Indian Penal Code (IPC) are liable to be framed against all the accused."

The Tamil Nadu Police and health department have stepped up security and screening of passengers at check posts bordering Kerala as a large number of people are reaching the state during the Puja holidays.
With Tamil Nadu announcing the opening of play schools, kindergartens, and anganwadis from November 1 onwards, the state health department does not want to take any chances.
Health department and police officials are conducting checks at borders in Walayar, Kanyakumari, Gudalur, and other areas bordering Kerala.

The series of tremors in Bidar and Kalaburagi districts in North Karnataka were related to a phenomenon called hydro-seismicity, which occur post monsoon, revealed a preliminary study by NGRI.
"We had asked the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) to take up a detailed analysis of the micro tremors that we are experiencing in Kalaburgi and Vijayapura region," Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority commissioner Manoj Rajan told PTI on Friday.
"Their preliminary observations indicated that the micro tremors of this nature normally occur during the post monsoon period. It is related to a phenomenon called hydro-seismicity after a heavy rainfall," Rajan said.
