Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is rolling back salary cuts for the employees of its hydrocarbons division and is also giving out performance bonus that had been deferred after business was hit by coronavirus lockdown.
The firm is also offering an advance 30 per cent of the variable pay from the next year's salary to its lakh-plus employees as a goodwill gesture for working during the pandemic, two persons familiar with the matter said.

Punjab farmers on Sunday burnt effigies of the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at several places in protest against the farm laws.
The protesters described the three farm legislations introduced by the Centre as black laws and raised slogans against the BJP-led Centre. They demanded that the withdrawal of the laws.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led MCD for "resorting to hooliganism to suppress the voices of the protesting doctors and nurses" demanding their pending salaries.
Senior AAP leader and MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak made the remarks in a press briefing on behalf of his party. He said, "BJP-ruled MCD has transferred four CMO level senior-most doctors of the Hindu Rao hospital because they were supporting the protest of the doctors and nurses."

Paddy procurement for Kharif crops this year so far has gained "good momentum" in nine procuring states and Union Territories (UTs), said an Agriculture Ministry data.
As per the data, over 144.59 LMTs of paddy was purchased till October 24 this year against last year's corresponding purchase of 117.55 LMT -- an increase of 23 per cent.

Wholesale onion prices fell by up to Rs 10 per kg in key consuming markets such as Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai with increase in arrival of the perishable commodity after the government imposed stock limits on traders to check hoarding and price rise, government data showed.
Onion prices showed a declining trend even in producing areas. For instance, in Lasalgaon in Maharashtra, Asia's largest wholesale onion market, onion prices dropped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 51 per kg in just one day after the government's order on stock limits.

Out of 355 candidates contesting in Madhya Pradesh bypolls, 63 (18 per cent) have declared criminal cases against themselves, according to a report by poll rights group Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Eleven per cent or 39 candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves, the report said.
Serious criminal cases are non-bailable offences with over five years of imprisonment.
