UAE allows citizenship to distinguished professionals to attract talent

With the aim to attract talent, the United Arab Emirates on Saturday approved law amendments allowing citizenship to distinguished professionals including scientists, doctors, authors, according to PTI.

In a tweet, UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, "We adopted law amendments that allow granting the UAE citizenship to investors, specialized talents and professionals including scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, authors and their families. The new directives aim to attract talents that contribute to our development journey." He further said that the UAE Cabinet, local Emiri courts and executive councils will nominate those eligible for the citizenship under clear criteria set for each category.

"The law allows receivers of the UAE passport to keep their existing citizenship," he added. According to a report by official WAM news agency reported by PTI, the inventors seeking Emirati citizenship will need to obtain one or more patents approved by the UAE Ministry of Economy or any other reputable international body, besides a recommendation letter from the Economy Ministry.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly is doing well and all his vital parameters are stable, said the medical bulletin issued by Apollo Gleneagles Hospital on Saturday. "Sourav Ganguly, who underwent angioplasty at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata on January 28, 2021 has been examined by Dr Aftab Khan today. He is doing well and all his vital parameters are stable," said the medical bulletin.

On Friday, Ganguly was shifted to a private room from the critical care unit. On Thursday, Ganguly underwent a second round of angioplasty and two stents were inserted in coronary arteries. "The procedure was uneventful. Ganguly is stable and under close observation," said the medical bulletin on Thursday. The Woodlands Hospital had informed through a medical bulletin on Wednesday that Ganguly would be operated upon.

We have enough reasons to believe it was a terrorist attack, said Israeli Ambassador Ron Malka to PTI on Friday evening blast outside embassy. We are not surprised at 'evil attack' as we have been on a higher alert for past few weeks, Israeli envoy to India told PTI. 

 

All angles being probed, including possible link to 2012 attack on our diplomats here, operations happening around the world, Israeli envoy said. "These attacks by those seeking destablisation in West Asia region can't scare or stop us; Our peace efforts will continue".

We are providing all assistance, information to Indian authorities probing the attack. We're collecting all evidence, including CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts to piece together puzzle to expose perpetrators, the Israeli envoy said according to PTI.
