The NTAGI's Standing Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) approved the use of COVID-19 vaccines Corbevax and Covaxin for children aged between five and 12 years, official sources said on Friday.
However, there was no decision on introducing these vaccines in the vaccination programme.

Amid a row over OBC quota in the Gujarat panchayat polls, the BJP government in the state on Friday announced the formation of an independent commission to collect and analyse data about the nature and implications of backwardness in the local bodies.
A state government release said Chief Minister Bhuepndra Patel took the decision to form an independent commission to ensure members of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities get adequate representation in local body polls.
The commission, being formed as per the directives of the Supreme Court, will be headed by retired Gujarat High Court Judge KS Jhaveri and it will collect and analyse data about the nature and implications of the backwardness in the local bodies, the release further informed.

Emotional over the rousing welcome accorded to her in Odisha, her home state, NDA presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu on Friday said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik kept his rakhi' promise by announcing his party's support for her candidature.
Officials had said on Thursday that Murmu, a tribal resident of Mayurbhanj district, would be treated as a state guest when she visited Odisha for her campaign.
Murmu, during her interaction with the MLAs and MPs of the BJD on Assembly premises, said, As Subhadra (sister), I had tied rakhi on the wrist of Jagannath (Patnaik). Before the sister could ask for anything, the brother declared his support for her.

NDA presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Kolkata on Saturday and meet BJP MPs and MLAs from West Bengal to seek their support for the July 18 poll to elect the first person of the country.
Murmu is visiting various states to garner support from lawmakers and is at present campaigning in her home state of Odisha.
She will arrive in Kolkata around 10 AM on Saturday, BJP sources said.

Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal were among the 27 newly-elected members of Rajya Sabha who took oath as members of the Council of States on Friday.
The members took the oath owing allegiance to the Constitution as required to commence their functioning as MPs, in the presence of Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu in the chamber of Rajya Sabha.
The 27 members are from 10 states and took oath in nine languages - 12 in Hindi, four in English, two each in Sanskrit, Kannada, Marathi and Odia and one each in Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

Netflix has partnered German audio brand Sennheiser to bring spatial audio to across its catalog for its over 221 million users across the world.
Netflix said that spatial audio will help translate the cinematic experience of immersive audio to any stereo, "so the work creators do to bring you into the story happens no matter what device you use to watch Netflix".
Spatial Audio is a 3D audio technology that creates a more immersive soundscape by using dynamic head-tracking for a 'theatre-like' experience.

IndiGo on Friday said it will start flights between Kolkata and Jharkhand's Deoghar from July 12.
Aviation regulator DGCA had on June 29 granted aerodrome licence to the newly-built airport in Jharkhand, allowing it to handle narrow-body aircraft such as A321 and B737.
The Kolkata-Deoghar flights will operate four times each week from July 12, the airline said in a statement.

In another jolt to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, 32 former corporators of Shiv Sena from Navi Mumbai extended their support to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Thane on Thursday.
Thanking Chief Minister, Suresh Kulkarni, a former Shiv Sena Corporator of Navi Mumbai, said, "Eknath Shinde has stood by us whenever we need it and his style of working is attracting him and everyone else."
"We will be with him. He never declined anybody's phone call. Even if an ordinary party worker calls him up, he receives the call. It feels good," he said.
Last month, Eknath Shinde launched a rebellion against the party. The majority of MLAs sided with him, which led to the collapse of the MVA government led by Uddhav Thackeray.
