The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday debated the no-confidence motion against the state government tabled by the main Opposition party, Congress.
Soon after the question hour, Speaker Tulsi Ram informed the house that he had received a notice of no-confidence against the government and allowed the same.
The motion was moved by leader of Opposition Vidya Stokes and was backed by 22 Congress members.
When the Speaker asked about discussion on the no-confidence motion, chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said it should be taken up immediately and discussion on the motion started, suspending all other business.
Moving the no-confidence motion, Stokes launched a frontal attack on the government and said that the BJP government in the state was “mother of corruption”.
Taking a dig at the BJP, she said that “both the BJP and the government were institutions with a difference in the state that breed endless scandals and corruption”.
