PM, Shinde to address DGPs/IGPs meet on Nov 21-23

Top Central officers will interact with the DGPs and IGPs of all states

Recent riots in Uttar Pradesh, social media's role in inciting people and cyber security will be discussed threadbare at a three-day meet of top police officers of the country to be address by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The annual conference of Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police, organised by the Intelligence Bureau from November 21, will also deliberate on national security, activities of Pakistan-based terror groups, infiltration, militancy in Jammu and Kashmir and Naxal violence.

Apart from the Prime Minister, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and top Central officers will interact with the DGPs and IGPs of all states.

The meeting will also review information gathering mechanism - both human and technical intelligence, its proper sharing and necessary action, how to deal with economic offences, especially fake currency and enforcement challenges before the police.

Besides, cyber space vulnerability, implementation of CCTNS project, mega city policing, VIP security and role of police in disaster management will also be discussed.

Modernisation of the police force, procurement of arms and ammunition and filling up of vacancies, particularly constabulary, will also come up for intense discussions.
