A total of 1,927 preventive arrests have been made in Bangalore to prevent any law and order problem and ensure free and fair conduct of Lok Sabha polls in the city, police said.
“A total of 1927 persons have been rounded up and 4,927 arms deposited in all police stations in the city to prevent any untoward incidents during the general elections”, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here today.
While 15 cases have been registered against various political parties (BJP-5, JD(S) and Cong-4 each and BSP-2) for violating model code of conduct, 12 cases have been registered for tax violation.
Apart from these, eight cases involving disfigurement of public places and one case under the IPC has also been registered, he said. Bidari appealed to the public to bring all instances of poll code violation to the notice of the police and ensured stringent action in such cases. Bangalore has four Lok Sabha constituencies - South, Central, North and Rural.
