The Madhya Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee Chairman, Ajay Singh today said that the party put up a much improved performance in Lok Sabha elections in the state because of a number of factors.
Ajay told PTI that one of the factors which led to the Congress improving its tally from four in 2004 to over 10 this time was the realisation among the people that Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan did not speak the truth on a number of issues.
"Chouhan is in the habit of lying through his teeth," he said.
The Congress leader said that Chouhan had also been claiming credit for a number of Central schemes, which did not go down well with the people.
Ajay said that in the assembly elections in November 2008, there was a division of votes as many parties were in the fray. This time people have voted for a stable government at the Centre which could last its full term of five years, he added.
