Congress wins Bardwali assembly by-poll

Opposition Congress candidate Asish Saha won the by-election to the Bardwali assembly constituency here trouncing his nearest ruling left front rival Forward Bloc's Shyamal Roy by a margin of 3,244.
While Saha secured 12,937 votes, Roy secured 9,693.
The seat fell vacant in January last following the demise of Congress MLA and former Chief Minister Sudhir Ranjan Majumder in January last.
The by-election was held on May 28 last with 80 per cent of the total 29,705 voters having exercised their frenchise.
