The roadblocks for approval of Banking Regulations Amendment Bill seems to have been cleared by the government as finance minister P Chidambaram said in Lok Sabha that government will not press for future contract clause in the Bill.
Chimbaram said the government had given notice for withdrawing the clause.
He was responding to BJP MP Anurah Thakur's question whether the clause had been taken back or not.
The principal opposition party has already said that it had no problem in supporting the Bill if futures trading pertmission clause for the banks is removed from the Bill.
The discussion started at 2 pm. Chidambaram said that in Parliamentary democracy, there was give and take and if some members are not in favour of a clause, there was no point pressing for it at this juncture.
