Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda yesterday said the state government had decided to give industry status to the health projects involving an investment of Rs 100 crore and above for the purpose of availing incentives under the new Industrial and Investment Policy-2011. It would also promote health tourism in the state.

Hooda was speaking at the launch of the renovated and modernised Fortis Escorts Hospital in Faridabad yesterday. The state government had decided to develop a dedicated Pharma Park over an area of about 1,000 acres of land on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway Global Economic Corridor, he added.

Detailing the state government’s initiatives in the health sector, he said medicines were being given free of cost in all the government hospitals. Haryana was the first state in the country to launch ‘Inexpensive surgery packages’ in the government hospitals. Under this scheme, free of cost operations were conducted for the poor patients and free services were made available to delivery cases.
