"When our government took over the charge, there were 384 projects that had been stuck for the 10 years, due to various reasons. We have resolved issues and put majority of these projects on track, Gadkari told industrialists and investors at global business summit. Out of the total stalled projects, the government has terminated 41 projects. Further, there were 21 stalled projects left. We have resolved the issues of 5-6 projects and the remaining 14-15 will be cleared in next 15 days," he added.
Recently, briefing the media after his meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, concessionaires and bankers and other stakeholders involved in the national highways programme, Gadkari hinted if the issues related to these 14-15 projects were not resolved, then a committee would be formed, comprising the PMO, Finance Secretary and Road Secretary to expedite the stalled projects. During the summit, Gadkari also mentioned that the Road Safety Bill will be tabled in the upcoming Parliament session.
He added that since the subject is a part of the concurrent list, the government need cooperation from the states. He also added that he will take all the stakeholders into confidence.
