The Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik has sought increased share of tax devolution from the 13th Finance Commission to overcome various socio-economic handicaps. In this context, the Commission should consider increasing the share of states to 50 percent of the net proceeds of central taxes and duties from 30.5 percent at present.
Making a submission before the Commission, Patnaik said, Orissa was deprived of its due share in tax devolution and grant-in-aid under the dispensation of 10th and 11th Finance Commission. In contrast, the favourable dispensation under the 12th Finance Commission (TFC) was beneficial to Orissa.
