PM played down graft cases during UPA regime: BJP

A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh commented that “instances of corruption were just aberrations,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership said it believed his statements downplayed the series of massive corruption cases that have come up in the UPA government.

Senior BJP leaders also say the PM’s criticism of CAG for looking into policy issues in the 2G spectrum allocation scam was unwarranted and regrettable. “The PM was on silent mode for a long time. Even now, instead of openly acknowledging corruption and assuring effective action he has called these scams just aberrations,” party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
