"We have to wait till monetary steps (taken by the Reserve Bank of India) takes effect," Chidambaram said here. Money supply has slowed down a bit and liquidity tightening is also seen, he added.

"Government expects moderation (of prices) over a period of time," Chidambaram said, adding that RBI's assessment on inflation is fair and accurate.
