Taking a cue from UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, the Punjab government today decided to launch austerity measures in the state by lowering vehicle category entitlement for officers.
These officers include Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Financial Commissioners, Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments.
The Motor Vehicle Board, which met under chairmanship of Chief Secretary SC Agrawal, here today, decided to lower the vehicle category entitlement for officers.
An official spokesman while giving the details of decision taken in the meeting said that the Chief Secretary, who was earlier entitled for Toyota Camary would now be given Toyota Corolla. Similarly, all officers including Principal Secretaries, Financial Commissioners and Administrative Secretaries would now be entitled for Honda City or Maruti SX-4.
