The defamation case against former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi would be heard on May 13 as the complainant Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, state JD(U) president, could not appear in the court today due to his illness.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) A K Jha posted the matter for hearing on May 13 after JD(U) chief's counsel V S Dubey today informed the court that Singh could not depose as he was sick.
Notably, Lalan Singh had filed a defamation case in Patna court against Rabri Devi, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly and wife of RJD chief Lalu Prasad for allegedly making intemperate and abusive remarks against him and the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The case was filed in the court of ACJM A K Jha by Lalan Singh's counsel V S Dubey under section 499 and 500 of IPC relating to defamtion.
The case has been filed against Rabri Devi for usign defamatory words which have impaired the reputation and huge goodwill of the complainant (Singh) in the eyes of the public.
The harmful imputations made by Rabri Devi at an election meeting on April five at Garkha in Saran Lok Sabha constituency has lowered the moral stature of the complainant, Dubey had said.
