With Rajasthan being the hotspot of foreign tourists, the state government has constituted a three-member high-level committee to oversee prevention measures of the deadly H1N1 virus, which has claimed 26 lives worldwide.
In an emergency meeting of the state health department to take stock of the situation in the state, authorities decided to constitute a three-member board under the chairmanship of P D Khandelwal, the Head of the Department (HOD) of Medicine, SMS hospital, to supervise the work.
The meeting was attended by representatives of private and government hospitals, Railways, Airport Authority of India, central government and home ministry.
Regional Director of Health Directorate General K K Mathur said that to prevent the disease infesting the state, the personal protection equipments will be provided by the Directorate of Health, Government of India.
The meeting also decided to refer all suspected patients to the SMS hospital for treatment.
