Rajya Sabha was today adjourned for 10 minutes following a clash between ruling and opposition members over development of Bundelkhand region.
Trouble broke out during the Question Hour when Satyavrat Chaturvedi (Congress) said though the region lies in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, both the state governments have neglected it.
This enraged members belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party, which is in power in Madhya Pradesh, and Bahujan Samaj Party, which rules Uttar Pradesh. Some SP members were also angry over the remarks.
When Chaturvedi said the opposition parties have "ruined" Bundelkhand, Rudra Narayan Pany (BJP), Avtar Singh Karimpuri (BSP) and Amar Singh (Samajwadi Party) stood up in protest and were soon joined by JD-U members including Shivanand Tiwari and N K Singh.
As BSP members rushed into the well, the Chair adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
