Sikkim Manipal University to tie up with retail chains

Sikkim Manipal University – Distance Learning (SMU-DE) today said it was in the process of tying up with organised retail chains for supplying trained workforce.

This coincides with the launch of SMU-DE’s Pro-Degree Programme in 4 professional subjects viz. financial planning, supply chain management, export import management and network technology.

“The tie-ups with the modern retailers will strengthen our efforts to provide good placements,” SMU member (academic senate) Sivaramakrishanan V said here. India’s nascent modern retail sector has been grappling with the shortage of trained manpower especially in logistics and supply chain management.
