WLC College India , one of the largest professional educational institutes, plans to invest close to Rs 50 lakh this year to set up two more campuses in India.
Currently, the institute has 27 campuses in India with over 3,000 students and 13 admissions offices.
Malobika Sengupta, CEO of WLC College India , said, “We intent to invest around Rs 25 lakh into a campus in Vijayawada and another Rs 25 lakh for a campus in Aurangabad. We also plan to start short-term courses of six to nine months soon.”
The college currently offers programmes in Business Economics, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Retail, Public Relations & Events, Advertising & Marketing Communication, Fashion Technology and Advertising & Graphic Design.
Currently a two-year WLC course costs around Rs 3.6 lakh.
“Short-term courses would cost Rs 15-50,000, depending on the course,” Sengupta said.
The institute also plans to start distance education.
“We have seen a massive drop in average salaries offered this year although there has not been dearth of offers for our students. While the average salary offered in 2008 was Rs 3 lakh, the average salary for students passing out in 2009 has been Rs 2.2 lakh. Things should be fine for the 2010 batch,” added Sengupta.
