"It's the police which filed cases against Jagan based on the court's orders and not the Congress. The Congress had nothing to do with cases filed against Jaganmohan Reddy," Ramesh said while addressing a press conference at the district Congress Committee office in Kadapa.
He said Jagan, who is out on bail, may not be able to discharge the duties of a chief minister if voted to power, since he would be busy with pending court cases.
All welfare schemes mooted and implemented by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajshekhara Reddy were Congress party's brainchild, he said and criticised the YSR Congress for claiming that schemes implemented by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was his own.
"Earlier people use to say that there is treasure in Golkonda fort, but now they say that it is with the YSR Congress," he said, alleging that the YSR Congress has spent heavily for elections.
"All leaders with vested interests have changed parties only to protect their business empires and not in the interest of people. We thank them for giving a chance to the Congress to inject new blood into the party," he said, about the recent trend of politicians switching parties.
He said that the country would be in danger if people voted for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BJP alliance, which would certainly destroy the secular atmosphere in the country and urged people to support the Congress.
