IIM-B post-grad fee hiked by 10%

With the increase in fees for its post-graduate programme to Rs 18.7 lakh, the programme of IIM-B remains the costliest of those offered at IIMs

One of the most coveted post-graduate programmes in the country just got costlier.

In a meeting, the board of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) on Wednesday approved a 10 per cent increase in the fees for its flagship post-graduate programme (PGP) to 18.7 lakh. With this, the programme of IIM-B will remain the costliest of those offered at IIMs.

"The board of governors of the institute had taken the call to increase the fees at a meeting of the board of governors on Wednesday," said sources from the institute.

The fees are being increased by the institute after a period of two years. This has been the practice at the institute since its inception some 41 years ago.

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) had recently announced a 11.44 per cent hike in its fees to Rs 18.5 lakh for the flagship PGP. Business Standard had earlier reported the newer IIMs could go in for an upward revision of the fees at their campuses.

IIM-A had announced the fee hike for the 2015-17 batch citing inflationary pressures. The IIM-A's hike was the highest in the last five years. The report had also mentioned that newer IIMs like Rohtak, Udaipur and Trichy had not taken a final call on increasing the fees.
