Alstom T&D rises on Rs 79 crore order from Power Grid

The stock was up 4% at Rs 192 in early morning deals on the National Stock Exchange.

Alstom T&D India is trading higher by 4% at Rs 192 after the company said it has received order worth of Rs 79 crore from the state-run Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for supplying equipment at substations in Uttar Pradesh.

"Alstom T&D India has won an order worth Rs 79 crore (9 million euro) from Power Grid Corporation to provide reactors for substations at Kanpur and Jhatikara in Uttar Pradesh," the company said in a statement.

The projects are due for delivery in 2015. The reactors are designed to maintain the voltage level, whatever the load, by limiting over-voltages which can occur due to sudden load decreases.

The stock opened at Rs 187 and touched high of Rs 194 on the NSE. A combined around 50,000 shares have changed hands on the counter in early morning deals on the NSE and BSE.
