Rising for the third day in a row, cardamom prices gained 3% to Rs 1,292.60 per kg in futures trading today on pickup in the spot market demand.

Tight supplies following restricted arrivals from producing belts further fuelled the upswing in cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract added Rs 37.60, or 3%, to Rs 1,292.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 29 lots.

The August contract gained Rs 6.30, or 0.47%, to Rs 1,341.10 per kg in 384 lots.

Traders said besides rising demand in the spot market, restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
