Cardamom prices fell by Rs 4.80 to Rs 867.90 per kg in futures trade today owing to slackness in demand at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from the producing belts also put pressure on the prices at the futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July fell by Rs 4.80, or 0.55%, to Rs 867.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 170 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August eased by Rs 3.90, or 0.43%, to Rs 888.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 42 lots.
Also, the cardamom for delivery in September moved down by Rs 3.90, or 0.42%, to Rs 905 per kg, with an open interest of 11 lots.
Analysts said the fall in demand at existing higher levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
