Maize prices strengthened by Rs 18 to Rs 1,449 per quintal in futures trade today following increased buying by traders.
Apart from low levels buying, rising demand from bio- products and cattle-feed making industries also helped to boost the trading sentiment.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize price for August contract went up by Rs 18 or 1.26% to Rs 1,449 per quintal in open interest of 28,270 lots.
Current June month too advanced by Rs 12, or 0.90 to Rs 1,348 per quintal, showing an open interest of 9,390 lots.
