The NSE Nifty is down 43 points at 4,093.
Tata Motors and ICICI Bank have slumped 4.7% each to Rs 428 and Rs 622, respectively.
ACC and HDFC have shed 4.5% each at Rs 553 and Rs 1,963, respectively.
Grasim and Hindustan Unilever have plunged over 4% each to Rs 1,862 and Rs 200, respectively.

Reliance Infrastruture, DLF and Mahindra & Mahindra have tumbled around 3.5% each to Rs 855, Rs 409 and Rs 494, respectively.
Reliance Communications, Ambuja Cements and Maruti have slipped nearly 3% each to Rs 460, Rs 79 and Rs 627, respectively.
Satyam and BHEL have gained 2% each at Rs 449 and Rs 1,407.
Infosys has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,733. Hindalco is up 1% at Rs 141.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,435 stocks traded so far, 1,692 have declined, 688 have advanced and 55 are unchanged.
