Markets extends losses

The Sensex has slipped further into the red and is now near the day's low - down 93 points at 17,232.

The Nifty is down 25 points at 5,116.

Markets have slipped into the red for the second time in the day. The Sensex is down 11 poinst at 17,315.

The Nifty is down five points at 5,136.

Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 2% at Rs 917. Reliance Communications and Grasim are down 1-2% each at Rs 234 and Rs 2,360, respectively.

Meanwhile, Hindalco has gained 4.6% at Rs 141. IT stocks - TCS and Wipro have added 2.7% each to Rs 626 and Rs 589, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki and Tata Steel have moved up 2.6% each. DLF is up 2.4% at Rs 473.

Tata Motors, Hero Honda, Reliance Infrastructure, NTPC and SBI are down 1-2% each.

The market breadth is marginally positive. Out of 2,702 tsokcs traded 1,346 have advanced while 1,280 have declined.
