Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 2.70 to Rs 722 per kg in futures market today, as speculators indulged in profit-booking amid fall in spot market demand.
Increased arrivals in the market from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for August month fell by 2.70 or 0.37 per cent to Rs 722 per kg with an open interest of 2,469 lots.
The oil for delivery in current month July also weakened by Rs 1.90 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 697.50 per kg in 4,500 lots.
Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit-taking by speculators and fall in demand at spot markets.
