Select edible oils fall on global cues

Select edible oils fell by up to Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today due to sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels amid weak trend in Malaysia.  

However, non-edible oils remained flat on lack of buying support. Trading sentiment turned bearish as palm oil dropped for the first time in six days in global markets, tracking losses in rival soybean oil, which fell on speculation that rain in Argentina may aid crops. 

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for delivery in May contract fell by 3.1 per cent to $1,181 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange, highest since February 24.

In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils declined by Rs 10 each to Rs 6,300 and Rs 5,920, respectively. Likewise, crude palm oil (ex-kandla) traded lower by Rs 10 to Rs 5,420 per quintal.  

Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils lost Rs 20 each to Rs 5,970 and Rs 5,770 per quintal, respectively.   

Mustard expeller oil (Dadri) and cottonseed mill delivery oil (Haryana) too traded lower by Rs 20 each to Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,750 per quintal, respectively.
