Select edible oils up on global cues

Select edible oils strengthened by up to Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on increased buying by vanaspati mills amid firming global trend.

However, non-edible oils remained steady in restricted activity.  

Trading sentiment turned better after palm oil advanced for the fifth day in the global markets, tracking gains in crude oil and soybeans, as fighting in Libya and unrest in states across the Middle East renewed concern that supply disruptions may spread.  

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for delivery in May climbed one per cent to $1,220 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange. 

In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils gained Rs 10 each to Rs 6,310 and Rs 5,930, respectively, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,780 per quintal. 

Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils traded higher by Rs 20 each to Rs 5,990 and Rs 5,790 per quintal, respectively.
