Sensex ends down 111pts

The Sensex has finally ended (provisional) at 17,215, down 111 points.

The NSE Nifty has finally ended (provisional) at 5,115, down 27 points.

The Sensex has once again slipped and is now down 79 poinst at 17,247.

The Nifty is down 20 points at 5,122.

The markets have recovered sharply on the back of fresh buying. The Sensex is now up 11 points 17,337 - up 132 points from the day's low.

The Nifty is up six points at 5,148.

Mahindra & Mahindra has tumbled 3% to Rs 909. Reliance Communications and ONGC have slipped 2% each to Rs 233 and Rs 1,215, respectively.

Hindalco has soared 6% to Rs 143. Tata Steel, DLF and Wipro have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 579, Rs 474 and Rs 588, respectively.

TCS, Maruti, Tata Motors and NTPC are up over 1.5% each.

The market breadth is negative, out of 2,794 shares traded, 1,405 have declined and 1,319 have advanced so far on the BSE.
