Sensex ends down 410pts

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 16,331 - down 410 points. The Nifty ended (provisional) at 4,841 - down 130 points.

The Sensex has slipped further into the red and is now at 16,350, down 390 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,839, down 132 points.

Markets continue toextend losses.

The Sensex is now down 309 points at 16,432. The Nifty is down 102 points at 4,869.

DLF has plunged 5.3% to Rs 407. Metal stocks - Hindalco and Sterlite have dropped 4.5% each to Rs 131 and Rs 788, respectively. Tata Steel is down 3.5% at Rs 521.

ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel have declined 4.5% each. Tata Power and SBI have slipped 4% each.

The other losers in the Sensex are Reliance Communications, Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Infrastructure, ITC, HDFC and Maruti Suzuki.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors has managed to hold on to its gains and is now up 3.6% at Rs 559.

Wipro has added 2.3% to Rs 605. Hindustan Unilever is up 1% at Rs 281.

The market breadth continued to be negative. Out of 2,690 stocks traded 2,201 have declined while 419 have advanced.
