Sensex extends gains, up 192pts

The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 192 points at 9,860.

Larsen & Toubro has soared nearly 5% to Rs 653. BHEL and Tata Motors have surged 4.5% each to Rs 1,550 and Rs 167, respectively.

ITC and HDFC have rallied 3% each to Rs 183 and Rs 1,645, respectively.

Tata Steel and ONGC have gained 2.5% each at Rs 200 and Rs 782, respectively.

ACC and SBI have advanced over 2% each to Rs 574 and Rs 1,071, respectively.

Grasim and Maruti have added 1.7% each at Rs 1,579 and Rs 747, respectively.

ICICI Bank, NTPC and Tata Power are up around 1.5% each at Rs 372, Rs 180 and Rs 751, respectively.

Ranbaxy, however, has slipped over 1% to Rs 161.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,320 stocks traded so far, 1,312 have advanced, 902 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
